Holding increment to protect job can be a better option than firing
While our government does not review well to circulate any notification which may cause to kill more than 6 lacs job annually, our corporate tycoon thinks much to protect every single job.

It is estimated that in a company of 2350 employees, by average pay cut of 8% to lower, upper and senior management employees can save 240 executives to lose their job.
Holding annual or periodical increment can also work. Holding increment to save any job is a better option than any pay cut.
