Ebook versus Printed Book
In India, there are increasing trends reading books and news online rather than printed copy. Online books are much cheaper, easy to carry, save space. In a device like Ipad, about 200 books can be stored. You can highlight text, underline important quote or other things similar to printed books. This is more reader friendly than printed book. You can search any text, easily carry and move the device to any places, browse any Chapter one wish to read. Those who has weak eye-sight can enlarge text as per their requirement.
There are many devices in different sizes available for ebooks. Apart from Ipad, ebook can be stored in many devices like kindle, mobile, PC, laptop, nook etc. Indian publishers still neglecting and not concentrating on ebook publishing as several ebook devices are not available in Indian market.
Publishing electronic version is much cheaper than printed version. It can save paper cost, shipping cost, printing cost and other extra costs.
In printed book if any error found, correction can only be incorporated in next edition or revised edtion. But in ebook any amendment and modification can be made anytime without much investment and rework. Creation of an ebook is much cheaper than typesetting a book.
Ebook can be created any Indian language such as Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Telegu and other regional languages. Kindle support almost all the Indian regional languages.
In future, Ipad may be introduced in various private schools and colleges. Our child will not have to carry 20 kg school bag full of copies and books in the morning while going to school. Only 1 kilo gram Ipad is sufficient in the classroom.
